LABORER - PARKS & RECREATION DEPT.

* Ensure cleanliness and safety of parks on a daily basis, including but not limited to: cleaning restrooms, picking up trash, emptying trash barrels, installing and repairing lawn sprinklers, mowing, weedeating, edging, trimming trees
 
* Perform routine and preventive maintenance of playground areas and equipment such as painting, repairing broken or loose parts, chopping woodchips to install around equipment
 
* Maintain equipment: mowers, weedeaters, edgers, vehicles, and all hand tools.
 
* Set up for special community-wide events and any other functions
 
* Work ballfields and prepare for tournaments and games
 
* Participate in on-call rotation and accept responsibility for weekend duties such as cleaning restrooms, cleaning pavilions for reservations, and repairing water leaks

ASSISTANT BUILDING INSPECTOR

Position will serve as understudy to current building inspector ensuring compliance with city's adopted building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and zoning ordinances as well as other applicable state and federal codes and standards.

* Prepare and issue building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other permits
* Review construction plans/permit applications to determine ordinance/code applicability
* Perform field inspections on projects to verify compliance with ordinances/codes
* Advise contractors, architects, engineers, designers, and citizens regarding ordinances
* Maintain accurate records of activities

Required knowledge and skills include minimum five (5) years of experience in building construction/inspection or equivalent combination of experience, education and training; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents; demonstrated capacity to apply mathematical concepts to complete calculations.

Education and license requirements include high school diploma/GED, valid TX driver's license, and Plumbing Inspector License or ability to obtain within 18 months of employment.
